3 color peacock

I carved these plates when I was in school and they were in storage for at least 8 years. They are not in the best condition and the print is not perfect but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Cant wait to finish my new 3 color print.

Little mermaid

the best print
This Scandinavian style mermaid is my first print using the (really good!) new press. She is going to Germany as a thank you card. She is a small 4"x 6" in black and gold.

The German press

This morning I got a very exciting package from Germany. As you might have noticed I am into block printing lately and I have been looking for a good manual press for a while. Its slim pickings in the US unless you want to spend $300-$2,000 on a roller press. Unexpected salvation came from the land of Gutenberg. Konrad from ABIG was kind enough to mail me this beautiful industrial-looking A4 hand lever press! love it.
Vielen Dank!

This weekend I will test print my old peacock print. I am also working on a new 3 color print. If all will go well I will put some original prints for sale on Etsy so stay tuned if you are interested. Here is a sneak preview of my new print still in the carving stage:

Fired birds

My recent work out of the kiln. They were not glazed because of the interesting yellowish speckled clay I used. We used black oxide on the bird plaque to enhance the texture and the big baby bird joined some older friends for a rather dramatic photoshoot.
